Who we are
Signal Band is the registered business name of Andrew Birrell (ABN 26 810 393 148), based in Sydney, Australia. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through signalband.net, and follows the Australian Privacy Principles. Contact us at [email protected] with any question about it.
What we collect
- Soundcheck answers. Your result is calculated in your browser. Your answers are also used, anonymously, for the statistics described below. Your name and email are only collected if you ask for the full readout.
- Contact details you give us. When you request a full readout or email us: your name, email address, company, role, and the answers and scores that go with your request.
- Purchases and API accounts. When you buy, Stripe processes your payment; we never see or store card details. We keep your email, what you bought, your API key in hashed form, your credit balance and a record of engine runs (which engine, when, credits used). Inputs sent through the API or MCP server are not kept after the run completes, apart from the anonymised statistics described below; runs on the website are kept as described below. Power BI pack downloads carry a licence record with the buyer's name and email.
- Technical data. To limit abuse we keep a one-way hash of your IP address and count requests and engine runs per account. For enquiries we record the country your request came from.
- Website analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies and without identifying you.
- Funnel measurement. To learn which pages and free checks are useful, our own site records anonymous events such as "page viewed", "Soundcheck started" or "check completed". Each event carries a random ID stored in your browser, the page address (without personal details), your device type (mobile or desktop), and the site or campaign link that brought you here. It contains no name, email address, IP address or cookie, and we do not use it to identify you. If you buy a plan, the same random ID is attached to the order so we can tell which channels lead to purchases. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the ID is kept only until you close the tab. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser. Raw events are deleted after 13 months.
Anonymised statistics
We use answers and scores from Soundchecks and decision runs, with anything that identifies you or your organisation removed, as anonymised statistics to improve our products and to report industry trends, such as how evidence-ready ventures are at each stage. This happens for every Soundcheck and decision run. In practice:
- We use only structured answers (the options and ranges you choose) and scores, never the text you write, such as assumption wording or initiative names.
- Amounts are rounded into ranges. The statistics carry no name, email address, IP address, account, browser ID or exact time, so they cannot be traced back to you, and we cannot pick out or delete a single contribution later.
- We publish figures, and show comparisons on results, only for groups of at least 20.
- We never sell your data, and never publish anything that identifies you or your organisation.
Decisions you run on the website
When you run a decision engine on signalband.net/run, we keep the inputs you entered and the result, linked to your account, so you can see your history and run it again later. Apart from the anonymised statistics above, we do not use them for anything else, and we delete them on request ([email protected]). Runs made through the API or MCP server are not stored; we keep only a usage record (engine, time, credits). Sign-in uses a one-time emailed link and a session cookie that only identifies your signed-in session.
Pilot programmes
If you join a pilot with an access code, we keep your email address, the name and organisation you choose to give, which pilot you joined, and the feedback forms you submit, linked to your account. We use them to run the pilot (sign-in links and pilot emails), to understand what works and what doesn't, and to improve the service. We may share overall results that do not identify you with the organisation that invited your group. We only quote a testimonial in the way you chose on the form (with your name, or anonymously), and you can withdraw it at any time by emailing [email protected]. Ask us to delete your pilot feedback at any time.
How we use it
We use your details to send the readout you asked for, reply to your enquiry, and follow up about the products or services you showed interest in. We send marketing email only if you opt in, and every such email lets you unsubscribe.
Where it is stored
The website and the readout requests it receives are hosted by Cloudflare, in a database only we can access. Payments are processed by Stripe. Receipts, reminders and sign-in links are sent through Brevo. Email to [email protected] is forwarded by Cloudflare to Gmail, operated by Google. These providers may store data outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We do not sell or rent personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and readout records for up to three years after our last contact with you, then delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner. Website run history stays in your account until you ask us to delete it. Purchase and billing records are kept for five years, as Australian tax law requires.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Cookies
This site does not set tracking or advertising cookies. When you sign in to run decision engines, we set one essential cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days; signing out removes it. Separately, your browser's local storage holds the random funnel-measurement ID described above, plus any check you are building so your answers are not lost.
